"Our client, armed with innovative technology solutions and efficient warehouse and logistics processes, is now prepared to take the fibre market by storm."
The Challenge
Aiming to bring the next generation of high-speed fibre connectivity to businesses in London, a disruptive start-up was preparing for its market launch. This move would see hundreds of customers join their network over a short period of time. To prepare, the company needed to review, develop and enhance its warehouse operations to support demand. In their own words, it was enabling them to "deliver the right goods to site at the right time."
They asked our team to run a project to evaluate and improve its current working methods—to deliver a scalable operations solution that supported their future growth plans.
The Solution
Working with stakeholders from the client's dispatch, warehouse, planning, and mobile field support teams, we scoped out, set up, and managed the delivery of the project.
An initial series of cross-functional workshops identified the client's warehouse operations requirements. These also helped flag pain points in the client's current ways of working and use of technology. Our consultants brought teams previously excluded from decision-making into the project – ensuring their input was valued and actioned.
Using our expertise in process engineering, we introduced opportunities for efficiency through technology. Acting as a bridge between the business and software engineering teams, we created user stories and managed the delivery of warehouse management system enhancements. We also implemented Process Street – a powerful, no-code way to manage recurring tasks – to better support the management of equipment maintenance.
The Impact
As well as redesigning the client's warehouse processes ahead of its market launch, we delivered several tangible business outcomes:
- Six releases of WMS (Warehouse Management System) improvements led to a significant reduction in warehouse and logistics function issues through added transparency.
- A 60% decrease in the number of delayed jobs due to disruptions in the warehouse and logistics function.
- A significant drop in the reporting of damaged and defective equipment. This was thanks to the implementation of Process Street to track and manage maintenance activities.
Armed with innovative technology solutions and efficient warehouse and logistics processes, our client is now prepared to take the fibre market by storm.
