Integrating master and transactional data for unified operations
Our client, a leading global manufacturer of semiconductor production equipment, aimed to transform its ERP and 3PL system integration. Discover how we supported the end-to-end implementation of Boomi iPaaS middleware for greater flexibility, scalability, and maintainability.

Sector
The Boomi iPaaS solution was stabilised post-implementation within just one week, minimising business disruption and demonstrating the robustness of the new architecture.
The Challenge
Our client, a global manufacturer of semiconductor production equipment, required a robust integration for its master and transaction data, facilitating the purchase and sale of items through its third-party logistics provider. Such integration would enable its IT and Operations teams to collaborate for seamless user and customer experiences.
However, our client faced challenges in scaling and maintaining its existing point-to-point integration between its Oracle NetSuite Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and its third-party logistics (3PL) system. The point-to-point integration required extensive coding to set up process workflows, lacked a unified view, and was time-consuming to maintain.
The Solution
Our approach extended beyond a pure system implementation. In collaboration with our client's IT and Operations teams, we began with a comprehensive review of their existing business processes and data flows. This initial phase allowed us to identify coding redundancies and pinpoint areas for process optimisation. For example, we reviewed and redesigned the validation logic in their sales order validation workflow to ensure sales orders comply with government regulations for exports.
With a clear design blueprint, we implemented Boomi's iPaaS (Integration Platform as a Service) middleware to replace the client's point-to-point integration. This new architecture provided a centralised, scalable platform that facilitated reliable data exchange between their Oracle NetSuite ERP and the 3PL system. Boomi’s drag-and-drop user interface also enabled quicker data transformation and mapping.
The iPaaS solution included:
· Modular and Reusable Integration Components: We leveraged Boomi's capabilities to build a modular, reusable integration framework. The client's original system required building over a dozen unique email notifications for various processes. We designed a single, dynamic sub-process that could be configured with variables for recipients, content, and formatting, eliminating the need for repetitive coding and reducing development timelines.
· Unified View of Process Reports: All process logs are now tracked and captured in a single portal, enabling faster identification and resolution of errors.
The Impact
The implementation of the new Boomi iPaaS solution transformed our client’s IT landscape from a fragmented system into a unified, agile platform.
Centralised Monitoring
Our solution consolidated four key functions - monitoring process runs, tracking security certificate expirations, downloading inbound and outbound documents, and re-triggering processes - into a single, unified interface. Instead of navigating separate dashboards, our client now has a centralised, real-time view of their entire process landscape. This integrated approach has significantly reduced manual effort for monitoring and empowered them to respond more swiftly to issues.
Accelerated Post-Implementation Stability
Unlike our client's previous point-to-point integration, which required a three-month-long bug resolution and stabilisation period, the Boomi solution was fully integrated and stable within just one week. This rapid transition minimised business disruption and demonstrated the robustness of the new architecture.
Flexibility and Scalability
The modular components enabled our client to easily adapt to new business requirements or replicate components to integrate different systems without the need for extensive, time-consuming coding. This reduces IT effort and future-proofs operations as the business expands.
